Title: A Timeless Moral

Author: Dan James

Year: 1992

Prize: Statue

To claim: Burried treasure to dig up. Entries could be submitted by post, and an SAE ensured a personal reply from the author (the usual "wrong try again" type of course)

Closing Date: ?

Type of book: Single picture and short story published in the Armchair Treasure Hunts Club's newsletter

Description: Short story about an horologist.

Solution: I can't just put my hands on it, but it was found at Gold Hill in Chalfont.St Peter, Bucks.

Personal opinions: Despite being a short story, it contained a lot of leads for investigation. I had only had it for a couple of days and was convinced I needed to travel 400 miles to go and dig. Luckily I was talked out of it - I was using a 40 year old OS map (don't ask why) that showed things that had long since gone!

Other information: Other hunts were also set in these newsletters, such as "Winterspell" and "Dragonslayer", again single pictures with small stories.
