Preparations for:
UK Puzzlers NOVEMBER Meet

 November 27th 1999 London, England.

Listen up... Threel speaks...

OK - here it is - the next UK MM meet.

We will meet midmorning in London on Saturday November 27th November and we will go on a tour (provided by your loving host Solstice) of some of the main real life pictures featured in MM including :- The Bank of England, Royal Exchange Building, the Selfridge's clock (oooh - shopping!!!) the Victoria memorial at Buckingham Palace, the statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, the clock at the Horse Guard's Parade, the Fortnum and Mason's clock (oooh shopping!!!) Big Ben and we can go and see a real live Beefeater. Picnic will probably be in Kensington Gardens. There will be the usual opportunity for alcohol and a nice meal on the Saturday night and possibly a meet up on Sunday too.

Anyone interested??? Contact me or Sol - see contacts at foot of page. (3L is now Sol's 'PA' woman in more senses than one!!!)

For those who haven't been on one of our meets before - don't be shy even if you have to come on your own - everyone who has attended other meets have all become really good friends. We have great fun and occasionally we even get round to discussing MM!!! Come on you Yanks, Canadians, Ozzies, Kiwis, Dutch ... - no excuses - treat yourself to an early Christmas present - a mini-break to London. Who knows ... even Apprentice (who is in London) might find himself a suitable train to get to this one!!!

Let me know anyone who needs more information - until then xxx

Here is a suggested tour of the London MM Landmarks. Please note this is not yet confirmed as the definite route - this will be firmed up nearer the date (27th November in case you've forgotten already!)

I suggest we meet on the north end of Tower Bridge, overlooking the first sight - The Tower of London (see the far right hand side of the map above). The nearest tube station is "Tower Hill" I believe - but please check before travelling. You may find it useful to purchase a "zone" ticket that can be used all day on Tube and Busses - but check which zone you need.

We shall assemble on the Bridge from 10:30am, ready to start the tour around 11am.

The tour will include the sights as numbered showing approximate locations on the map above:

After the tour we will no doubt be exhausted, and in need of drinks and good food! Details to follow.

Watch this space for confirmation of the details of the tour...

until then...

the quest continues...

LATEST DETAILS FROM THREEL:

Follows a copy of what threel posted on the HCBB earlier, but that BB has eaten it up and won't accept a repost, so for anyone who would like to meet us in London, here's the info...

threel posted 11-11-99 11:49 AM GMT (UK)

OK - the meet is Saturday November 27th - meeting at the North end of Tower Bridge (tube station is Tower Hill) and going on a tour to see some of the real-life pictures featured in MM. If you're really against the picnic idea (as is our usual custom) now is the time to negotiate for some nice, warm pub lunch. The tour will end up (asap???_ with intellectual discussions on MM which will take place in a pub and we will proceed to find a nice restaurant (cheap and not Italian) probably in Chinatown. We won't book before we go. If you need to stay over there are several Londoners who can help you find suitable accomodation. Sol, Wanda Mike and I are booked into the City of London YHA near St. Paul's tube (£22 includes breakfast) - let me know if you need the number. Others are booked into The Merlyn (!) Hotel which offers a single room at about £40. I can give you more details if you need them. There is an optional trip by rented car on the Sunday from London travelling to Avebury/ Stonehenge - if anyone is interested then I will contact the car driver - Mike (EikM for those of you who don't know him - hey - a long car journey - what an excellent opportunity to discuss the associative approach to MM !!!)

OK - we have discussed the day itself - the night - the accomodation - the optional Sunday trip - this leaves you to :-

1. Sign up if you are coming
2. Decide about the picnic
3. Let me know if you need any extra info./help with anything
4. Make a collection to buy me a present for organising such a wonderful day out (said in a hopeful voice - lol)

So e-mail me if you can make it. threel, xxx (see link below)
